One of the best features of my new home is how much sunlight it receives in the daytime. I have a huge bay window in the living room, as well as several smaller windows all around. The result is a bright, cozy atmosphere that is terrific in summer and warm and inviting in winter. I just wish I could bottle that sunlight for nighttime when the house gets extremely dark! Until someone comes up with a way to do that, I’ll continue relying on my spotlight floor lamps.
I read a lot, so I need to have spotlight floor lamps instead of incandescent lighting. Spotlight floor lamps provide clear, crisp white light that is perfect for reading, studying, and other activities that require attention to detail. This kind of light significantly reduces eye strain, which allows me to stick with reading a lot longer than I normally would.
What I particularly like about spotlight floor lamps is the portability factor. I do not like overhead lighting because you have to pretty much confine yourself to certain areas of the room. By contrast, when I use spotlight floor lamps, I can sit or lie down wherever I want and drag a lamp near me for the perfect amount of light. Furthermore, I love the way I can angle the head of a lamp to just the right position so that it cuts down on heat and glare.
Another reason I like spotlight floor lamps is that they allow me to highlight some of my favorite framed photographs and other artwork. As with reading, I just position the lamp head to where I want it to shine and sit back to enjoy the results. For example, when night comes around, I always point a lamp at the beautiful oil painting I have hanging over my fireplace. The effect is amazing, and is something that I wouldn’t be able to pull off with a simple incandescent bulb.
